Privacy policy
The short version
The Shotbar app collects nothing. It has no network access, so it can't send your screenshots, their text or anything else anywhere. This website counts visits without cookies.
The app
- No data collection. No accounts, analytics, advertising, crash reporting or third-party code that collects data. Shotbar ships without the macOS network entitlement, and the App Sandbox enforces that.
- What it reads. Only the folders you choose in Shotbar, and the image files inside them. macOS asks you to pick each folder in its standard folder picker.
- What it stores, on your Mac only. One index file in the app's container: each image's path, dates, size, pixel dimensions and the text recognised in it, with the position of each line. Settings such as your shortcut and folder access are stored in the app's preferences.
- Text recognition. Apple's Vision framework reads text on your Mac. Nothing is sent to Apple or anyone else for this.
- Deleting your data. Removing a folder in Settings removes its entries from the index. To remove everything, quit Shotbar, delete the app and delete
~/Library/Containers/com.aimantas.Shotbar. Your screenshots themselves are never moved, except when you choose Move to Trash.
The website
- Hosting. Cloudflare serves this site. Like any web server, it processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and stop abuse.
- Visit counting. We use Plausible Analytics, which uses no cookies and stores no personal data. It isn't loaded at all if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
- No forms. This site has no forms and sets no cookies. The launch-note link goes to aimantas.com, which has its own privacy page.
App Store
When you get Shotbar from the Mac App Store, Apple handles the purchase and may share aggregated, anonymous sales and usage statistics with the developer under its own privacy policy. We can't see who you are from them.
